social skills for neurotypical young adult

Anonymous
DC is neurotypical but has had a lot of difficulty making/keeping friends due to anxiety/depression. They are working on both the anxiety/depression (meds and therapy) but it also seems clear that they need to work on basic social skills that have atrophied in recent years. Is there such a thing as a "social skills coach" for a neurotypical adult?

Sure. Look at things like jaunty and meetup

Lots of online courses. Or search social skills training for anxiety

Ask therapist to help find a group. There are tons of social skills process groups out there for young adults. They’re very helpful. Better than working in isolation with a coach imo.

Do you have some examples in the DMV?

Group therapy is a great tool for this. It develops social skills while also supporting the underlying anxiety and depression.
