I’m a former pre-professional ballet dancer who hasn’t danced in 15 years. I want to get back into ballet. Does anyone have experience with the different class levels at Washington Ballet? I’m not sure how to gauge the pace or difficulty based on their class descriptions. |
I used to dance at Nova Dance as an adult years ago and loved it. In Falls Church. Never tried Washington Ballet. I was a pre-professional dancer as well. |
I think it is called BalletNova. Sorry I messed that up. |
I had a similar background and after a long break I started in Advanced Beginning classes and then moved up to Intermediate. That felt like a good fit for me. There may be some company dancers mixed in but most are former dancers who want to challenge themselves. The live music is lovely. |
This was at WB. |
Op - Thank you! This is helpful. I went to an intermediate class once a few years ago and it felt like it was all company dancers. So intimidating for someone who can barely stand in fifth position anymore. |
PP here and I know the feeling. That’s why I recommend starting in an Advanced Beginning class and then ask around which other classes are good. Some Intermediate classes are harder than others depending on when the company dancers take class. Then just hang out in the back with me and the rest of the mortals. |
