Just learned I have Kienbock’s disease and one of my wrist bones will need to be removed. I’m looking for the best hand/wrist surgeons or surgical group practices anywhere in the country. I would especially like to consult someone with experience in bone replacements or prostheses.
How does one find top surgeons for top practioners in an obscure specialty? I’ll tap my friend network, but most people have no experience with hand or wrist surgery. Any guidance is appreciated! |
| You could try HSS in New York. |
|
Pedro Beredjiklian in Philadelphia.

HSS is huge. OP is asking for names |
| Try Curtis Henn in DC |
| I had a good experience with Dr. Croog at OrthoVirginia. |
That would be dependent on OP's insurance and probably consulting with more than one from the practice? It's place to start. https://www.hss.edu/orthopedic-hand-service.asp#tab-1 |
He is a jerk. Cassie Root is amazing. |

This is OP. I’m so grateful for the names and practice groups mentioned. HSS is a fabulous idea - tomorrow morning when I have more energy I’ll work through their doctor lists to see who might be a good fit.
It looks like Dr. Dawn Laporte or Dr. George Nanos at Johns Hopkins are possibilities too. Anyone familiar with their work? |

| Thank you so much for the suggestion! - OP |
| Check out Kenneth Means in Baltimore. Great reputation and experience. My husband has had some complex wrist problems and Dr Means has been a lifesaver. |
| Dr. James Higgins in Baltimore. |
| I just had surgery with Dr Haqque at Summit Orthopedics. Wrist specialist |

Bump.
How are you, OP? My DS has the same condition. I hope you are doing well. |
