We bought an Ikea Kivik sofa about eight years ago. I would now like to make it a sectional by buying a new corner section.
Any reason to think the two pieces won’t match since we purchased the first piece so long ago? I will get new covers so the fabric will match, but wondering if the couch could have been redesigned or reconfigured so that older pieces are no longer compatible. |
| I would think Ikea could tell you better than anyone. You could also try using the wayback machine to look up old dimensions. How have you liked your Kivik? |
Yes, that is fair. I am perhaps a tad optimistic hoping someone has recently done this . Good idea about the wayback machine. Thank you!
Honestly we love the couch part of the Kivik. It looks nice and has held up really well. The cushions look pretty news. I occasionally rotate them but this is preventive. The covers are pretty easy to get on and off for washing. The only thing that I don’t love is the chaise that we got with it. It is fine, but the cushions do sag a bit and it is so wide that it can be tough for some people to get up from it. But we are hoping to replace the chaise with the corner sectional. |
Op again. I missed the most important part: it’s comfortable and very nice to crash into at the end of the day! |
| We did that. We just had to buy a new slipcover for the whole thing because the color we had was no longer offered. Looked and felt like a new couch. |
