| A 4.2 weighted GPA. 1400 SAT. Current junior. We won’t get aid and we don’t have a lot to spend. |
| Look at the smaller engineering programs like Olin |
| U of Arizona and U of Minnesota have solid Engineering Schools that give a lot of aid. Purdue has the lowest tuition of any of the Engineering schools that my kid got into. Other could choices are U of Illinois, Wisconsin, U of Washington - the UCs run a little pricier. Colorado gives no aid. |

Consider trying to strengthen the SAT a little and apply to Michigan State University.
My son, with 1430, was invited to attend the Honors College merit scholarship competition. |
Doubtful - prior to schools going TO they had the 3rd highest average SAT scores of all schools - highest than almost all ivy’s - acceptance is 13%. |
| In state tuition seems important here. What state are you in? |
| Texas A&M has an excellent engineering program. If he joins the Corps of Cadets (even if he doesn’t want to go into the military), he will automatically receive corps scholarships and in state tuition AND tons of extra support. They do have to do quite a bit of physical training and live in campus though. |
| DD with 1220 (submitted) got into Temple engineering this cycle with $14k merit per year. Brings cost close to in state. She will attend elsewhere but Temple is a close by option that is not discussed much here. |
| Iowa State |
|
Neighbor with slightly lower GPA and higher SAT got offers for 22,000$ tuition/room/board at both Arizona and WVU for Aero major.
Could have good chance of VT if sign on for Corp of Cadets (if instate, good deal). |

In MD, UMBC and UMCP both have good public engineering programs.
In VA, good public options exist at least at ODU, GMU, VCU, VT, and UVA. VT deliberately has weed-out courses, but some others (e.g., UVa) do not deliberately have them. ANY Engineering school will be a lot of hard work for anyone. Look at the 4-year graduation rates (in engineering) for freshman engineering students. For engineering, job opportunities after graduation depend more on which upper-level in-major electives were taken (which translate into specific skills) than which E School one graduated from. |
WVU offers generous scholarships to oos and has a reasonable engineering department. You kid might just have to work a bit harder to find internships. |
Not sure they'd get into UMDCP engineering with those stats. |
| University of Tulsa - Small school, but they do have some great connections to get their graduates hired. |
