How many swimmers are in the FXFX meet?

Seriously, what happened? The meet has turned from a fun prelim/final meet to something that looks a million times worse than an Open meet.

AAC had to cancel their Gator meet this weekend because of the repairs at Long Bridge (contractor error during construction). FXFX was kind enough to let the AAC kids pivot to their meet. I’m sure that’s not the only cause of the swimmer abundance but it’s one reason. (Thank you FXFX!)

The AAC older kids were supposed to do the FXFX and they added all of their young swimmers and age group swimmers. Pretty sure that is what jacked the meet.

It is going to be a long painful meet.

The meet program has not been updated to reflect any changes to the meet.

What are they changing?

They got rid of Saturday finals and the Sunday 'super finals,' so everything is just timed finals.

They also changed the timeline/groups for the day but have not published it. They are debating getting rid of certain events for the younger groups because they take too long.

Any chance, they have enough drops and less swims that they can add the finals back in?

No. Too many moving parts and just not enough time.

It was already oversubscribed. We got an email early last week saying they were looking for kids to scratch events and not charge them meet fees.

We are AAC and have heard nothing about the changes to the meet. There are no finals?

“ Fairfax Fox Meet Participants,

Please read this email all the way through!!!! There are important changes to the meet next weekend.

This message is going to all of the teams participating in the Forty Niner meet on February 24 and February 25 at Colgan High School.

The number of swimmers and races entered for the 14 participating teams was higher than we expected. As a result and as of this moment (Wednesday morning at 6am):

* We have to eliminate the prelims/finals feature of the meet as well as the Super Finals feature on Sunday, Feb. 25. This is not ideal, but it preserves everyone being allowed to race.

* We have to limit the number of entries per swimmer to 3 per session. ACTION ITEM: please review your swimmers' entries. If you know they do not want to participate in a specific race, please make the change.

* We will have to start the meet earlier in the morning for the first sessions of each day.

* We will separate the 12 & Under sessions into two separate sessions each day. Sessions 2 and 5 will now be an 11-12 session and sessions 3 and 6 will be a 10 and Under session.

FOR ALL 10 and UNDER FAMILIES: This means the meet on Saturday will start with warmups closer to 5:30pm. This is not finalized, but just be aware of this change.

* We might eliminate the events for 11-12 200 Butterfly and the 10 and Under 200 Backstroke from the meet lineup.

* We will have a slightly more expansive Positive Check-in policy (more to come on that front.)”

I feel for the 10&U that will not be getting out until 8 pm (and depending where you live - home after 9 at night).

I feel like there will be a lot of scratches for that group on Sunday night.

Looking at the psych sheet the Potomac Marlins also put too many swimmers in the meet. It seems odd that they have so many when they just held their own qualifier two weeks ago.
