Soft rejection FSU?

Anonymous
Just got an email saying that as they get ready to release decisions, FSU want to stress the importance of supporting your child through the admissions process. Then it recommended a podcast. Closed with something along the lines of “it’s been a pleasure getting to know your student.”

Soft rejection, correct?

No, sounds generic.

No - I read on facebook that everyone received this letter - and it's the same letter that got sent to everyone before in-state early action came out. So it means nothing. Many people who got the letter during early action ended up getting in - so don't read too much into it.

The only thing that concerns me that the stats for those accepted early action for fall were much higher than what the common data set shows.
ADMITTED STUDENT PROFILE:
FALL: GPA: 4.4-4.6, SAT: 1370-1480, ACT: 30-33

This is OP. If these stats are correct, it was a soft rejection for my DD! 😂

She’s got a 4.4/28 ACT. Generic EC’s and sports. Prob not looking good. Ah well!

It wasn't a soft rejection because everyone got that letter. Last year, the admit rate for OOS was 23%
Also, here is the profile from LAST year for regular decision for summer, fall and deferred(the profile posted earlier for early action THIS year):

Summer:
Recalculated FSU GPA: 4.1-4.5 (Average: 4.3)
SAT: 1230-1350 (Average: 1290)
ACT: 26-30 (Average: 28)

Fall:
Recalculated FSU GPA: 4.4-4.6 (Average: 4.4)
SAT: 1340-1450 (Average: 1390)
ACT: 30-33 (Average: 31)

DEFERRED STUDENT PROFILE:
Recalculated FSU GPA: 4.0-4.4
SAT: 1180-1280
ACT: 25-28

It looks like Early Action (Florida State residents only) this year is a little higher than fall regular decision last year. So I suspect the stats for Fall admit this year will be somewhere in between. I'm very curious to see what the final stats are for this year. Florida schools are definitely becoming more selective.

Regular Decision Stats for THIS year are:
TOTAL: 76700 applications: 9698 admitted EA | 7049 admitted RD | 16778 admitted TOTAL
36% FL resident admit rate | 23% OOS admit rate
32% overall admit rate
MIDDLE 50% STATS | ADMITTED STUDENT PROFILE SUMMER/FALL 2024
SUMMER: 4.1-4.5 | 1260-1360 | 28-30
FALL: 4.2-4.6 | 1370-1470 | 30-33

It looks like the admit rate for OOS is still pretty low and same as last years: 23%

Definitely a soft rejection. The past tense of "it's been a pleasure" is the tipoff.

But everyone got that same letter - including people who got admitted early action in the spring.

I don't think those people were honest with you about their results.

People have mentioned it over and over on college confidential and facebook. Literally - everyone got the letter. I got the letter and my kid has stats above the ranges that has been reported.

Agree. Probably a rejection. Her ACT is low for such a high GPA. Bad sign that her grades are inflated.
