Looking “squishy”?

Anonymous
Since the beginning of January I’ve been consistently doing cardio and moderate weightlifting. I do legs twice a week. I e steadily added weights and everything. I’m finally noticing some changes, the scale is moving a bit (I was already just over the BMI scale into the “normal” weight category, so it’s been slow going) but now I’m noticing I look… squishy? Especially my butt (it’s almost unsightly) and thighs. It’s like cottage cheese. It even feels weird when I walk, like I can feel it moving! I’m super self-conscious of it. You can even see it through my workout pants, which are the same pants and you couldn’t see it before I was being consistent. I have no idea what’s going on. I’ve also been consistent with my diet and tracking on MyFitnessPal, eating more protein, and yes the scale HAS moved.

What is making my butt look so horrible?

How old are you?

My skin changes happened at time of menopause. I was one of those women who never had cellulite. Weight the same, still 6 days a week lift/Pilates/ HIIT, etc and at 54 getting some dimples and crepeyness. A little sag by the knees.

Maybe you're in that in between stage? You're toning and slimming down, but there is still is fat and that's on the surface more?

Real possibility here. Don’t we lost the fat that surrounds our organs first, visceral fat, and then later the surface, subcutaneous fat?

Are you doing squats for the butt?

This really helped firm and shape my butt (and I'm 62.)

You may be retaining water.

Yah it’s prob water retention. I get it super bad around my period and get cellulite on my arms. I just had a scan and had great stats for body fat/muscle/retention. Maybe try epsom baths and massage
