Rude, sort of rude or forgivable?

Imagine a teen is very upset due to something legitimately upsetting. You say hi to such a child as they pass by and you know they are upset and why (it has nothing to do with you). They don't turn toward you and keep walking without acknowledging you, upset. Do you 1. think the kid is a horrendous brat 2. are a little offended but sort of get it 3. not sweat it, kid is upset.

I think the offense would last a second while I reminded myself of their reasons and land on 3

We would have a talk about it when they are not upset and I will share how it feels and what I expect. How “we” behave in such a circumstance -no matter what.

13 or 18? Younger =3 as teens get older it would be -3.
Though again, could be situational. Are they upset because they were rooting for the 49ers or they are upset because they didn’t make the cut for their sports team in high school.
