Google-sponsored Highlights magazine

What do you all think of the Google-sponsored Highlights magazine that came in the mail? Its supposed to be a special issue but looks just like the monthly magazine. But with Google branding, google advertorials and of course those cute Google Bots.

I don't like sneaky ads directed at kids. The issue just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I thought Highlights was better than this.

I feel the same way. Nothing is sacred.

Does anyone remember the old Zillions magazine (formerly Penny Power)?

It had all these great stories and cartoons about how marketing works to trick people into buying things. Also taught financial literacy to kids. Le sigh.

I loved Penny Power. I was so sad when it stopped publishing.

Penny power was so great! It actuality credit it with teaching first generation me, with poor imigrant parents, financial literacy and set me up early for life.

I got it today, I don’t think it’s too ad-like, but others may disagree.

We haven't seen anything like this in the 4 years we've been getting the mag for the kid. This is next level. I'm of a mind to cancel my subscription and report this to the FTC.
