CDC updating guidelines to not require isolation once symptoms are mild and fever free

What does this mean for MCPS guidelines? Sounds like they will need to update...covid will be treated like any other illness.

This was already how most parents were treating it. I am glad that the CDC will eventually nudge MCPS policy to keep up.

CDC has finally caught up!

There were never any guidelines but you are a terrible parent for sending your kid to school sick and infecting the rest of us. They should send any kid home who is sick.

We could have changed the policies for other major illnesses, as well as covid. But no, instead we're going to have the same bad policies for other major illnesses as for covid.

The only one of my kid's teachers who hasn't been out sick is the one who masks all the time. Having the teachers and students come back early just to spread it around more isn't going to help that situation, the teachers and kids will only get sick more often.

These teachers are so sick. One was hospitalized! Others are back after 5 days coughing like crazy and looking like death warmed over.

Let's try improving the ventilation systems and keeping kids and teachers home when they are sick/infectious. That it more likely to improve educational outcomes than mindless presenteeism that spreads disease.

The CDC decision to reduce the isolation time is not final and is controversial. It is being made not because people aren't most likely infectious for that long.

Just because you technically can do something doesn't mean you should.

They aren't going to improve the ventilation. They got covid money for it and instead wasted it on bocce ball. The same people sending their kids to school sick are the same ones complaining when teacher are out sick.

I think this has a lot to do with the attendance problems. Our principal essentially said at the last PTA meeting that if your kid doesn't have a fever and isn't vomiting, they need to be in school.

I don't see how this has a practical impact. People haven't been testing. Schools haven't been asking about COVID diagnoses. And no one has been attempting to enforce isolation periods. This is just the CDC finally catching up to what everyone else has already accepted.

And, in fact, we didn't. But we should have.

Why do you want kids to be deprived of education for a sniffly nose?

Hey if you and your kids just wear double cloth masks like usual I'm sure you'll be safe.
