Covid while traveling

Anonymous
I just tested positive for Covid (mild cold-like symptoms) and was supposed to fly back today. I cancelled my flight today, but am unsure what the best option is. Should I take paxlovid and wait until I test negative to get on a plane? Or just wait until symptoms are clear and get on the plane (and don’t test). Thoughts?

I might take Paxlovid, sit tight for a few days. That way you will have the strength to travel and be less likely to infect others. Waiting to test negative is ideal. And of course, wear a mask.

Sorry you got sick, but I respect your desire to limit transmission!

I'd put on an N95 and fly home. Chances are you'll be less of a transmission risk than your fellow passengers who are sniffly and didn't test.

Why did you test in the first place if you didnt have a plan for if you tested positive?

Are you always this mean to people who are trying to do the right thing?

NP. It is a fair question.

This. It was silly to test in the first place.

This. Why bother testing if you had no plan of what to do after?

Throw a mask on and fly home.

+1. Who tests for mild cold like symptoms?

Strength to travel? Stay a few extra days?

Are you nuts, PP?

People who don’t want to infect others. That’s who. I am currently sick with Covid, likely from someone who thinks like you.

Statistically, it was probably from someone that was asymptomatic and had no reason to believe they had covid. Which makes testing in situations like the OP's even more meaningless.

Don't be this person.

You sit tight and wait till you test negative.

Or just don’t test anymore.
