It is about time to say goodbye to my 2008 Acura MDX and I am at a loss as to what I should look for next, so I am hoping to crowd source here.
- Still want an SUV for height (good when I need to drive my elderly parents) - No need for a 3rd row anymore, carpool driving days are behind me - Safe for new teenage driver and soon-to-be other teenage driver - I put on about 10k miles/year- would be interested in a hybrid but not electric - Want to keep price < $40k, do not care at all about brand names - Open to new or used - Would hope to keep this for 15 years or so Thank you for any advice! |
Might want to increase your budget if you want something that will last 15 additional years.
Rav4 or CRV. If Hyundai and Kia have fixed their steal-ability problem, I'd put Santa Fe and Sportage in the mix.
What stealability problem?
I actually traded in my 2008 MDX for a 2022 MDX and love it. I didn't really want to get the same car twice but I didn't like anything else as much. We don't need a third row, but definitely need the extra cargo space for travel. If you want longevity and reliability, I'd stick with Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus.
Subaru - Outback unless you really want the height of a Forester.
