| We have several builders in our area, but I don’t like how the houses look. I often visit a different state and see the new builds there that I like. I want to get a house plan from those builders and get a local building company to use it. Is it possible? How do I go about it? What’s the process and price points? TIA |

| My mom did this. She got the plans from the out of state builder and used a local builder to build her house. No real issues. |
Thank you! Do you know an approximate figure of how much she paid? |
| Why would you not just hire an architect? |
I assume having an existing plan is cheaper and less time consuming. |
Any number this person gives you is meaningless. |
Maybe. Building codes, zoning, permits, etc. are local. Even if the plan is "legal" in your location, it has to be placed on your lot, within zoning setbacks and similar restrictions, and somebody local has to do things like structural calculations. I guess if you had a footprint you liked, you could give that to the architect as a starting point. |
