A thought experiment: is there any way to style this dress and not have it look like a costume for a JFK era drama?

This dress came up in my ads and I think it's adorable (and already sold out in my size!), but also not something I could wear comfortably. Like how could one wear this and not feel like are in a costume for a drama about the day JFK was shot?

Right? Am I missing something? What do you think? Have you styled something like this? I think the clothes inspired by this particular era are lovely.

This is the website for the dress: https://tnuck.com//products/ivory-bow-tweed-brigitta-dress?variant=44355412525278&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA_aGuBhACEiwAly57MXiKfAOt4YueEOBrr6sk8-uuH36FjISLhAZNsF3aDpBrGSRwWDDjVxoCe7YQAvD_BwE

I've never bought anything from Tuckernuck but the other vintage inspired dresses on their website seem more feasible.

I love 60’s md style but I can’t with the bows.

Dang you are right- it's the bows that send this into campy territory. If I found it on clearance I would buy it and cut off the bows but clearly it's a pretty popular dress as it is almost sold out!

Wear it to church for Easter. Or a wedding.

I think that type of Chanel-ish tweedy material can always be found somewhere whether it is trendy or not.

Would look great for a formal Easter service.

wear it with cute sneakers and your hair out- bows are super trendy as is tweet right now.

I hate Tuckernuck - all their stuff is like this. So twee.

Not my style at all, but if I wanted to update it, I'd wear it for winter with opaque black tights and a pair of block heel black pumps. Add a cropped black wool coat and it's a cute outfit for church or a dressy brunch or a baby shower, assuming this falls within your style wheelhouse, which for me it does not.

It's tough because the bows make it inappropriate for work, but if you take the bows away, it reads as aging and boring. Kind of hard line to walk.

Go go boots

For you have to overthink it, you probably won’t have enough confidence to pull it off. So just lean into the campiness. What’s wrong with being campy for a day? I’d wear penny loafers and cat eye glasses with my hair teased as high as I can manage.

I love it! I'm never in style though, so never outnof style either. I'd wear it to the office with black flats or dress down with sneakers or loafers. Simple jewelry.

Same, this!

Definitely wear with tall tight boots. Or flats.

But the top on this dress looks like it would have to be taken in to be flattering. It’s very boxy. I also hate tuckernuck, it’s all high waisted or too short o both, and the vibe is wannabe preppy and too antiseptic, less woman and more little girl.

I was thinking that black fishnet stockings would mogernize it. Not sure if I'm joking, either.
