Paris shopping with teen girl

Anonymous
We are headed to Paris next month for a week. It will be our family's first time.

Looking for recs for shopping areas and stores for my teen daughter, age 13. She loves fashion and shopping and is looking forward to doing that in Paris. Looking for things we can't get here in the States and which aren't too expensive for a typical teen budget (stores like Brandi Melville, AEO).

She also enjoys thrifting which we do often where we live in NYC, so recs for that kind of shopping is appreciated too.

And general recommendations for things to do in Paris that will appeal to a 13 year old girl and a 10 year old boy are appreciated too. We are staying in the 5th Arrondissement near the Latin Quarter.

I would head over to the right bank and hit either Le Printemps or Galeries Lafayette.

Both are HUGE department stores with so many different sections including stationery, clothes, bags, etc.

Both have great casual cafeteria style eateries that are not fussy or expensive and are perfect for kids and teens.

Le Printemps has a rooftop terrace and the views are simply amazing, maybe some of the best in Paris.

The bigger Monoprixs also have fun cheap clothes -- kind of like Target.

It would also be fun to go to the Marche aux Puces/fleamarket in Sacre Couer -- I believe it is open on Sat, Sun and Mon. Maybe watch Amélie before you go?

I did a trip to Paris with my 11 year old daughter a couple years ago and got lots of good ideas from this board.

For shopping, she actually had a great time at the Monoprix in Les Halles. I would say it is a little like a French Target, with groceries on one level and clothes, pharmacy, and other items on the lower level. Prices were very reasonable, but they carried French brands you can’t get here!

We also went perfume shopping at Goutal. The sales lady helped us try a bunch of scents and gave her a bunch of samples when we bought a small bottle of each de toilette—a fun French shopping experience. https://maps.app.goo.gl/rzHkKpYcdneuPkWk7?g_st=ic

For other activities, she loved the bike tour of Versailles with Fat Tire Tours (which includes shopping for a picnic lunch at the local outdoor market in Versailles). I think it would be great for your son as well.

And a terrific recommendation I got from this board was a cooking class near the Eiffel Tower. It’s Oliver’s Table on AirBnB experiences. We did the crepes class and it was one of the best things we did (would be great for the whole family). Delicious food and a wonderful instructor/host: https://abnb.me/WxhLTfeQ3Gb

Agree with other recommendations for Monoprix and the malls. We enjoyed thrifting also - the Montmartre neighborhoods have a lot of little thrift stores which was a ton of fun.

Galeries Lafayette does fashion shows on Fridays. Must purchase tickets in advance, and it’s definitely a tourist thing, but would be fun for that age.

Monoprix, especially if she still fits into age 13/14 size clothes in their teen options.

Check out Brocabrac.fr and videgreniers.org for fun pop-ups. Last year, I found a gorgeous vintage designer cashmere coat, perfect condition, for 150€.
