| had a great run in “sales development” at software companies, but to quote Willie Nelson—turn out the lights, the party’s over. I’m good on the phone & I can work a room, but I’m more of an opener than a closer. What else can a guy do to make a buck? |
| sales bro who is not a closer? time to pivot, I would suggest nursing or teaching. |

software companies used to pay for appointments with potential customers. but that game is over because less venture money to fund it |
i think those of us not in the VC/tech bubble just don't realize how monster insane everything has been the last 10 years, with huge salaries for the most banal job and hiring people to do the most ridiculous minutia. But with rising rates, and perhaps also the implosion of all the public SPACs, it seems that train is stopping. My BIL was a sales bro in tech, but now sells boring old insurance. It's just how things are pivoting. |
