Hi,
My child is waiting for CES results in the next 2 months for Elementary school, however we are contemplating a move to a different home. If we move to that home, child will have a different home school, and may not be eligible for the local CES program. If my child gets in to CES in the current local school, will he be able to continue or they will not allow for a different home address? Our move will not happen in the next 5 months, the results will come before that. Thanks |
| If your child is admitted into the CES and then you move to a different assignment area, your child will move to the CES assigned to that school. |

Look at the FAQS on the website or watch the video- this question in clearly answered.
They can stay if you provide transportation, they can move to another site if a spot is available - so it probably depends on the timing of your move and the area you move to. |

Thank you very much for answering the questions.
Would you please post the link to the video that you are referring to? |
If there's space there. |
If there is room. |

Of course if there's room. But if OP is preparing to move during this current school year, there will be space in next year's program. Moving mid-year and expect a space in a different CES would be much more difficult. |
| thank you for all the replies. my child meets the criteria they listed, rest is based on lottery. Yeah if we move it will be during current school year only while still in 3rd grade. What I was concerned is if DS gets selected, the CES is in the local program and not the regional. the house we move to has a regional CES. Hence, we were contemplating the options, if he will still be allowed for the local CES if we move homes. Distance wise it is the same, not a big difference as it is around the same neighborhood, but school assignment is different for each side of the road. |

Pre-lottery it was really hard for a kid admitted to one CES to switch to another in 4th due to space issues. It was slightly easier in 5th due to the program generally not accepting wait list kids after a certain time in 4th grade and there being attrition.
It was also impossible to switch from a local CES to a regional one as the criteria were really different for admission. It sounds like you just want to drive your child to the local CES near your old home and I would hope that would be okay. |
| yes thank you, we prefer the local CES, since we are used to that and elder son went there too. This is all hoping DS gets in. thank you for all the responses. |
