Anyone have a kid there now? What has their experience been?

No experience recent or otherwise, but I think the school should be more popular than it is.

Not super recent, but a niece graduated maybe 8 years ago? Had a wonderful time and had a great down to earth group of friends. Got a very coveted pediatric nursing position straight away at a top hospital and is doing very well in career. They thrived even more in college versus their private high school.

I've heard so many positive things about the school from friends from the Midwest as well as the East Coast.

We visited 2 summers ago. It sounds like a very supportive place. Each student is assigned a success coach, career advisor and academic advisor. There is a tutoring, writing center. They encouraged seeking mental health services. Lots of school spirit around basketball.

We liked downtown Cincinnati, however, school is not that close to downtown. There isn't much in the immediate area.

Our family ended up choosing a Big State U in the East - better fit for our family.

I have a kid there now. Incredible community vibe, accessible professors, lots of school-sponsored activities and trips. Basketball season is a whole ‘nother level of excitement and school spirit.

Not sure what PP means about being “not intellectual.” DC is taking challenging classes, enjoys connecting with profs during office hours, and takes their studying seriously. Granted, they also know all the fun spots between Cleany Ave. and the river, but, hey, work hard/play hard.

Grew up in OH and Xavier remains the place where the solid, nice kids go and have good jobs after. It’s kids who are less spoiled/suburban than Miami kids, definitely not reaching for a Denison or similar, and realistic that they don’t want to be at Ohio State or another huge school. It seems like Xavier has a lot of overlap with kids who apply to Ohio University and kids who apply to Dayton.
