I think I find my group

Anonymous
I grew up in a non-US populated city, and I have been having problem making close friendship with other moms. It might be many reasons due to different culture, language, hobbies, personalities etc.. I tried to make friendship with my race here, the friendship can't go deep because we don't share similar background. I may look conservative, but I am quite open minded to religions, sexualities and I stay away from anything political or controversial topics.

Anyways, somehow I made a jackpot making 3 new mom friends (they don't know each other) this week that click with me, and we are talking about getting our kids together one day to do playdates. All these 3 women share 1 trait, and they are all from new York city. They are so easy to talk to, and I feel so relaxed talking to them. They are quite open minded and do not mind talking about anything. I talk fast, so do they. Even English is not my first language, it just feels so natural like breathing to talk to them. They are friendly and seems to be less judgmental. I have lived here in dmv for 20 years, and it is ironic that I have not met anyone coming from new York city till now. I tell DH that I need to find where those new York city mom are in dmv area, maybe I belong to those group. I wish I learned about this long time ago.

Yay that’s awesome! It’s so hard to find people you really click with. I’m moving soon and really anxious about making new friends so thank you for this heartening post! Hopefully I’ll find my people too!
