School work samples

Does anyone know the workflow of the work samples put together at the school?

Center school. My child came home with a giant pile of stuff this week that was clearly work samples for AAP (combination of work from fall plus several items from pullouts last month in which the children were told was AAP application related pullout only). Given the volume, I thought it must be everything the school had to choose from, but some of the work my child had previously described doing during the AAP pullouts was not in there. Were those several missing items likely the chosen samples and this pile is the reject pile? Do the originals ever go home? I know I can request the file later after submission but I thought everything was scanned online these days.

Also at a center and the AAP samples submitted by school were included in the pile that came home for us last year. Frustratingly, there were much better work samples in that pile that weren’t used than what the school chose to submit.
