Rising 9th grader and CRF

DC said they'd be coming home today with their CRF and signatures from all the teachers with course recommendations. Yes I know we should trust the teachers but is it our decision at the end of the day whether to place DC into particular courses, specifically choosing between regular and intensified? Or do we need the teacher sign-off?

I ask because we may have it in two different ways. We've been told one teacher never recommends the highest level class for any student. DC is averaging a high A in the course and we believe could handle the highest level course in 9th grade. In another, DC's teacher has said she will be recommending intensified for next year even though we think DC has not had an easy time of it this year. I'm more inclined to step back from intensified. Obviously we will talk to both teachers and to DC but wondered if anyone knew.
