Driving up to State College, PA for our son's admitted student day. We'll have to drive at night. Waze shows 3 primary routes that are roughly the same, timewise. Knowing we'll be driving late at night, we probably won't need to worry too much about traffic (unless there is anticipated overnight roadwork on one of those routes...I know the turnpike is famous for that!) but I do worry about safety, so if one of these routes is recommended, I'd appreciate knowing:
1) route 1: basically 270N to 70 to 99N to exit 69 2) route 2: basically 270N to 70 to a few smaller roads to 522 to 22W (seems like a bit more involved that route 1) 3) route 3: basically 295N to 695N to 83N/81N to 22W I don't care about tolls. Suggestions based on experience? Thank you! |
| Option 1 is solid. Big highways all the way, nothing complex about it. Stop at Breezewood for a quick break, it's a perfect halfway point. |
| Thanks, PP. We'll do #1! --OP |

| OP. How was the Penn State admitted students session? Did it make a difference for your DS? |
I would agree. Option one is the best. Breezewood is the perfect break stop. Hit the Sheetz. I forget what highway it is, but I take a RHTY out of the Sheetz and follow that route. The PA turnpike from there is a pain to me. Good luck! |
