Primer on the college admissions process

Anonymous
I am sorry if this has already been asked and answered. I am thinking about colleges for my kids and obviously a lot has changed since I applied. I don't understand things what EA2 is and how it impacts an applicant's chances for admission. What resources are out there for filing in the gaps in information?

EA2 is Early Action second offering. Some schools have an option called Early Action where you submit your application relatively early, say December 15 and then get an answer about a month later. If the student is accepted, it is not binding.

Some schools offer a couple of options for this. For example, Early Action 1 might have a deadline of November 15 with a Dec 20 date to get an answer. And they might also offer another Early Action deadline on Dec 15. That’s the EA2.

As for resources, read posts here. You can also look at College Confidential. There are a lot of articles there to get you started. Just slowly take it all in and ask questions as they come up for you.
