No fences, walls, Or ICE.

This is more or less happening in Europe. It has a lot of benefits, but as the problems in Greece shows, it can have a lot of negative results as well. I think it works best when countries of similar socio-economic standing remove borders. But, when countries of different socio-economic status unite, problems are bound to happen.

Political freedoms and economic rules also have to be harmonized. Part of why the EU has fluidity is that they are reasonably aligned on those two fronts.

But although you can liberalize relations between nations, it will take a long time before the concept of a nation state is irrelevant. Essentially, the world has to be a single nation state that everyone would choose to belong to.

I am guessing that the original post was meant to be inflammatory, but the legitimate purpose of a nation state is more fun to discuss.

No.
let's set aside illegal immigrants, but erasing political borders would allow criminals, terrorists (maybe one and the same) and any other undesirables to enter country. Why would this be acceptable to anyone?
