How difficult is it to get into level 3 as a 5th grader?

As a new student? Is it testing immediately after starting?

Level III? Probably not too hard. They add kids to the Level III group throughout the year. Mainly the kids needs to be doing well in class and seem like they could use a bit more. It is an hour a week, most weeks. Be prepared that your child will be expected to make up missed class work. Since the pullout is supposed to be at the same time each week, that should be work for a particular class each week. I think my Ds’s class does it so that it is during LA and it gives the Teacher extra time with kids who are on grade level or below grade level but I know one year it was during Social Studies.

You can also contact the school and ask them to look at your kid and see if LIII make sense for them.

Level III at my school doesnt add any value , I was expecting to have some advance math but most of the time its discussion on some general topic which can be discussed at the Gen Ed class itself and some time they even skip the weekly pull outs .As the other poster mentioned its not so difficult and you can request at time of the school year.

Level II/III are determined every May near the end of the school year. The school evaluates all students and there is nothing a parent could do other than making sure the student perform well at school.

It depends on the school. We have seen kids added to Level III during the year at our school. It's not that big of a deal.

You are allowed to apply anytime of the school year.

for level III, just e-mail the AART and ask. The services are nonexistent so it really doesn't matter. Advanced math and placement in LLIV rooms are totally separate from level III, so all you gain is the occasional worksheet
