If you kept a horse and showed in the rated shows last year, how much did you spend exclusive of any purchases or lease fees? Trying to get a handle on costs for a children’s or junior hunter in a reasonable program. No Florida, but maybe Vermont or Saugerties for a few weeks in summer. Otherwise local. Thank you!

Here’s a rough breakdown:

- admin fee $30
- training/show lesson $125
- schooling at show $65
- horse care $100/day
- shipping $3/mile or whatever the private carrier charges
- grooming (body clip, trimming, mane, bath, but not braiding) - $200

Plus TBD fees that are dependent on the show and number of riders.
