Infertility Support and Discussion
|
I've been getting weekly acupuncture treatments for about 2 months now. Starting 3 weeks ago I noticed that some of the needles caused some slight, but tolerable pain. I mentioned this to my acupuncturist last week and after we identified the sensitive spots, she was able to locate the needles on a different channel with out any trouble. Today I went in for my regular appointment and found that several spots on my leg were extremely painful to the point that we didn't do any needles on that leg.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? It seems plausible to me that putting a needle in the same spot week after week could make the area sensitive. My acupuncturist said it can indicate blocked chi. For what it's worth, I have a pretty high pain tolerance. |
| You might have developed sensitivity in certain areas. Happened to me on couple occasions. Make sure they clean the treated area well with alcohol. This way, the affected area will heal faster. If that doesn't help, ask them to alternate areas from visit to visit. |
| Have you started to take any new medications? It's my understanding that some of the fertility medicine (clomid in particular) might result in heightened sensitivity to the needles. |
| No new meds. Also, putting the needles in new areas didn't work because all of the areas on that particular "line" are sensitive. It built up slowly and the last time I went it was unbearable to put anything in my right leg. I'm taking a week off due to vacation, so maybe when I go back it will be better. |
