Are this year’s Hardy 8th graders picking MacArthur or JR for HS?

It seem like last year, most kids went to JR? Any word on will happen this year? With sibling preference, it seems like MacArthur will lose out on in bounds kids for a long time to come.

JR, according to my 8th grader bc they have more programs.

When will kids stop having the option?

My 8th grader reports most saying they’re going to JR. This is why he wants to choose MacArthur (he is not interested in Hardy The Sequel) but I’m not convinced MacArthur is going to offer the extracurriculars he needs.

“he needs” ? what could those be? DC is at Macarthur and, between in school and options out of school, has all of the extras DC “needs”. Want to make sure I’m not missing something.

JR for our son. MacArthur would be a nightmare for us to get to. It I heard glowing reviews and felt like it would offer my son a "normalish" high school experience (with clubs and sports teams) it might be worth the extra hassle. I'm sure 5 years from now it will be great.

The difference is you don’t need options out of school at JR where there is a full menu of sports, extracurriculars and clubs. Your kid can just stay after school to participate.

Also so small a school such as MacArthur can be stifling where kids can easily find their niche of friends at JR.

Lastly, MacArthur is not getting alot of buy in from IB families so most of the friends are choosing JR and your kid would have to start over in that.

Football. Baseball. You know, things not happening at MacArthur.
Not to even mention the location. As a pp noted, I think the school will be great in 5 or so years. But my kid needs a HS now, so….
