| It's 10 pm and something is constantly flying overhead in NE DC. |
| Someone was carjacked and killed near union market around 7:30pm. I’ve been such a long defender of DC but I am about to throw my hands up and get out of this place. |
That carjacker ditched that car and carjacked another victim in Takoma Park just back from the downtown TP area with the shops and restaurants. I was robbed at gunpoint last year and in Union Market on Sunday and in Takoma Park last night. It's so different from DC in the 90s knowing you can be a violent crime victim at any time in any neighborhood. |
There was also a carjacking/murder near the Convention Center around 5:30 yesterday. This city. |
| So vibrant! |
This is horrific. I'm so sorry. To the people who are ready to throw their hands up...do you feel you contributed with your votes in any way? Would you be willing to protest? Are you calling the Mayor and Council every day? Would you embrace policy change? Would you vote differently? I am less progressive on some issues like law and order (people forget how nice order is) and I've had to sort of watch in dismay as the city has gone down the tubes. I have written, spoken out, would protest for the systemic failures, and voted (but feel like my vote doesn't count here). I am curious if you voted for the people who led us into all this if you feel any change in your heart or accountability. Not speaking to 'you' PP, but to the 'yous' who got us here. I love my neighbors, they are good people. But some of these votes and policies IMO are delusional/wishful thinking. What does a progressive liberal in DC do now? Vote differently? I too want to move, but that seems justified. It seems kind of lame to "move" if you were part of creating all this. No bright ideas now? |
