Eastern to CAP pathway

Anonymous
I know that traditionally a lot of Blair CAP kids come from the Eastern Humanities magnet, which makes sense because they look at similar criteria for admission/kids that want to go there probably have similar interests. But I am wondering if it's different this year because the Eastern 8th graders were a lottery class? (My non-Eastern kid got invited to CAP, and so I am wondering if the rest of the cohort already know each other/are a tight group).

I have had multiple children in CAP, including one current younger student. From our experience, there are fewer Eastern Humanities program grads in CAP now than there were in past years (though there are still plenty, but not more than 50%--probably closer to 35-40%). My own youngster did not go to Eastern and does not feel as out of place as they might have in past years. They have CAP cohort classmates who attended TPMS, Loiderman, SSIMS, Sligo, and various different private schools. Congratulations on the invitation; we really like the program.

I have a current CAP 9th grader, and agree with the PP. I'd say the "groups" are much tighter around specific activities (soccer, theater, debate) than around peer groups who are coming from the same middle school.

It's a really great program, and congrats to your kid!
