What wireless internet card for laptop?

Anonymous
I have an Apple laptop and will soon be traveling to a home that doesn't have a computer, much less a wireless router. Can you recommend what kind of wireless internet card I need in order keep myself in the cyber world while I'm gone? OK, I really want to keep reading DCUM. That's my real reason!

How about Cricket broadband - $40/month with no contracts? Think you just plug it into a USB port. Make sure the place you're going to has good reception though.

I tried the Mifi for my PC laptop and wasn't impressed. It frequently disconnected, and the device would take a long while to fully charge. It seemed it had to be mostly charged in order for it to work, and charging while I was trying to connect to the Net wasn't working well. But again, this is for a PC, I can't be sure of relevance to the Apple laptop.

Right now, I'm having success tethering my smart phone to my laptop, to get the connection that way.
