Contrave - What was your experience like?

Would love to hear from those who have taken Contrave. Did you lose weight? Did it help with carb/sugar cravings and the food noise.

I've been taking it for about 10 weeks and don't think it's doing $hit. The initial side affects were terrible. But my doc said give it 3 months, so I'm going to be hopeful that it keeps in over the next couple of months.

What side effects did you have initially? Are you taking 2 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets in the evening?

I started with two tabs in the morning. Side effects were tremendous. Headache, feeling shaky, insomnia and really bad shoulder aches. It just made me feel weird all over. I didn't move up to the 4 tabs until about 5 weeks in. They have subsided, but I'm not sure if it's really doing anything. I have lost about 8lbs.

I'm taking the generic ingredients (bupropion + naltrexone) in Contrave proportions since my insurance wouldn't cover the name brand. I don't think it's doing anything as far as appetite / weight loss, but the bupropion (Wellbutrin) has been really great for my mental health. So that's nice, but not what I was going for. Considering asking about the injectables again at my next visit.

I hated it, it made my heart beat so fast, my doctor did an EKG and made me go off it immediately.

I started taking Contrave after Tirzepatide. Tirzepatide got me to my goal weight (actually a few pounds under). I told my dietician that I was not interested in losing any more weight but wanted something that would control my hunger.

I've been on Contrave for a little over a week. I have mild constipation but no other symptoms. It's working great for hunger. I will say that it's not effective for weight loss for me. I was dropping weight at an unbelievable rate on Tirzepatide, but in the ten I've been on Contrave, I've only dropped 4 oz.

I recommend using Contrave for maintenance and Tirzepatide for loss.

I tried Contrave about 10 years ago and couldn't get past one day because my heart was racing so fast.

I tried Wellbutrin alone and I lost 15lbs, but the downside was massive hair loss.

The Wellbutrin in it made me anxious, so I couldn't stay on it.

I lost 50lbs with it! I can’t seem to lose more but I found it very successful. I don’t find the side effects too bad, but I know some people who can’t take the full dose bc it makes them sooo nauseous.
