Most important information left out - How old????
Everyone in college had them. My daughter bought one when she was 19 in NYC. She’s in the West Village and doesn’t drive so I’m ok with it. Some of her classmates worked in small clubs in the area. When people lost their id someone working there would sell it. |

You can easily get them online your real picture and the barcode on the back checks out when scanned. Typically shipped out of Russia or block country intermediary. |

Both my kids got one senior year of HS.
They worked fine around here but not so much at college. Colleges run them through a machine so at that point they just got a friends ID who was already 21. My youngest used his brothers. |

My kid at college can use hers (China made) at stores or places they don’t scan. No one at her school tries them at bars-not worth the risk. My nephew who is a freshman at a different college goes into bars with them. |

| The kids start getting them in HS and by college it seems they all have them. Bought online - very sketchy. My 21 year old tells me that the kids know which clubs, bars and liquor stores will take them and which ones won't. They sometimes get confiscated - by police and bouncers and they get a verbal warning to stay out of trouble. |

| I know 17 year high school olds who go out clubbing with fake IDs to 21+ clubs. Add a $ bill and bouncers let you through. I’m not sure if I should tell the parents, or I assume they know. Don’t they see the kids downtown on find my friends? |

| A friend of mine in college was caught using a fake ID, arrested and later had to go to court. This was many years ago. It’s probably not a big deal now considering the amount of outright theft and criminal activity that has been normalized. |
