Received the notice for AAP acceptance today for private schools in email

WTF? Why do they do it so early for kids who aren't even in the system? That's not fair. They should choose existing FCPS students first and just fill in with rich kids.

Private school families need to know before they sign a contract for the school year so the time line is different. They also don’t require time from FCPS employees to put together packet so there is no time consideration on the part of FCPS. FCPS students have to be tested, work samples developed and gathered and HOPE scores written. All of that takes time and schools are doing that for a large number of kids, it takes a while.

Private schools make you sign contracts by 2/1 if you are returning. Families need to know before then.

The rumors go both ways. Right after the pandemic everyone said they were letting extra private schools get in to lure them back to FCPS.
