Engineering - small class sizes

Recommendations for engineering schools that have smaller class sizes? Are there ones that expect student class participation vs listening to a lecture with little engagement?

Junior/Senior classes are small everywhere. Freshman/Sop years are not really engineering classes. All intros. Easy stuff

Smaller schools don't have as much research activities as R1 schools. Keep that in mind.

It is a very cold area, but I never had professors who have cared so much. They are so amazing!!!! Small class sizes and great opportunities for all.
