Can anyone provide a link to this year's percentile equivalents?
(Context: DC is trying to qualify for humanities magnet lottery next year and wants to know if they are in range. Any thoughts on this year's lottery process / cutoffs that have not been expressed elsewhere also welcome.) |
| I think it’s the same link—they don’t change it year to year. But correct me if I’m wrong. |

National percentiles change only every 5 years. The next one will come out in 2025, and likely will be based on national-scale data across several years prior to that, as is the case with the 2020 norms currently in place.
The local norms by FARMS-rate tranche that MCPS uses for magnet pool identification change from year to year based on the scores of students within our schools in that year. MCPS responded to a request for these from MCCPTA one year, but has not made them public since. |
Your 5th grader is doing that? Stop training your kid to be neurotic and competitive. The lottery thresholds are intentionally set to be below the level that makes the magnet a good fit, and then you're stuck in a lottery anyway. |
