I started 1 tsp of psyllium husk powder with a tall glass of water. Nothing else in my diet has changed. I've gained 4-5 pounds in one week. I thought it was the initial water retention that would go away after my body adjusted. However it has been a few weeks now and I still look like I'm 5 months pregnant. Is this common?
I get heart palpitations taking that stuff. It's poison.
Some people are allergic to it.
I take it in pill form, 3 a day. Works great for my digestion. Took 1-2 weeks for my body to adjust.
It simply doesn’t work for some people, myself included. I had the same issue of extreme bloating and had to take a stronger laxative to relive it. My Dr said it’s not uncommon and that she doesn’t recommend using it for that reason.
Caffeine causes some to have heart palpitations, I wouldn't put that in the category of "poison". Just because your body reacts adversely doesn't make it so for everyone. |

THere are more gentle forms of fiber if you want to supplement. And always start out slow with additional fiber. it takes the body time to adjust

Try Benefiber.
Works great for me for cholesterol reduction.
How much did it decrease your cholesterol? |
I have the same issue OP. I can’t take the stuff.
