What finally worked for you? 3 miscarriages and feeling defeated

Anonymous
Hi all, I know this question has been posed many times but I"m hoping for some more recent responses. I've had three miscarriages in a row and i'm feeling lost. Am working with an RE but curious about moving over to working with an RI as I feel like this isn't just bad luck despite my RLP coming back normal (no blood clotting issues, thyroid is stable, took progesterone during pregnancies). I'm concerned if I move to IVF with PGT that I will just have invested more time and money into miscarrying again but I'm open to it. What finally worked for you? And forgive me if this is the incorrect forum to pose this question..

Dramatically lowering my insulin levels until they were ideal, not just normal. Wasn’t on my RE’s radar. Did it through IF, low carb, circadian hygiene, sun exposure and weight training. I’m sure it also lowered the inflammation and androgen levels the embryos were exposed to. Got pregnant naturally twice after years of ivf.

But I was routinely losing healthy embryos (tested after dnc). That showed the problem was with me and the womb environment. If your embryos aren’t strong that’s a different issue

Have you been able to test the embryos you lost? If you have and they're genetically normal, then look into reproductive immunology. If you haven't been able to test them or they're abnormal, then IVF will either fix your problem or help you identify your problem (i.e., whether you're losing normal embryos or if your embryos are abnormal).

Blood thinners worked for me after 4 unexplained miscarriages. None of my bloodwork showed I have a clotting disorder but my doctor tried it as a Hail Mary. It worked.

Thank you. I'm currently waiting testing results for POC from recent Miscarriage to see if it was a genetic issue. Really hoping for some more answers. The RE saw a very enlarged yolk sac and was misshapen so she suspects testing will come back with some kind of genetic abnormality.

I had three miscarriages and one had a genetic abnormality but others normal. No clotting on my end or other known factors. I took B6 after reading it could be helpful in addition to folic acid. Have two healthy DCs.

Hang in there - it's so hard to suffer this much and most people haven't had so many losses. But the odds are still in your favor.

This is actually a small but crucial detail PP brings up:

Are we sure the issue is with OP? Has DH had his swimmers tested, and was there anything out of the norm in the results?

Hugs OP!

Hoping your RE can isolate the issue and resolve it, and hopefully without resorting to ART.

Thank you all. Our RE does recommend going an anti-inflammatory diet for all patients as a precaution. I am planning on trying this approach as we TTC for (hopefully) next time and during a potential future pregnancy.

DH has had swimmers tested and the one thing that can up was some issues with morphology which urologist said could affect getting pregnant but isn't correlated with miscarriage or inability to stay pregnant.

Thank you! I appreciate you all and all the support this forum has provided.

You need to see a specialist in recurrent loss. 90% of REs are happy to keep you cycling and taking your money.

Uterus
Auto immune
Clotting
Genetic disorders

Ive had a shocking amount of mis-diagnosis of a very severe C-section isthmocele, you cannot take ultrasounds at face value. I even had a "world renown" isthmocele surgeon measure adhesions as myometrium. If things are not working it is time for second and third opinions

100%!!!!!

I'm on loss 5 in a row. My OB and RE both finally admitted they are not equipped to address my unexplained rpl. I finally saw a reproductive immunologist (there are only 5 or so in the US). He found and is treating the conditions the others couldn't find. Still no gaurentee I'll ever carry a pregnancy full term again.

We got the results back from the tested particles of conception and it came back normal with no known genetic causes for this miscarriage (wasn’t able to test the other miscarriages).

The fertility clinic is still recommending IVF with PGT testing as next steps but I feel like I have it in me to try again one more time naturally and trying out some of the things others have suggested (anti-inflammatory diet, supplements etc ). Ugh wish this were an easier process

My mom had seven miscarriages before she got pregnant with my older brother. Then, expecting to go through another half dozen miscarriages when they were ready for their second child they started trying much earlier than they actually wanted to have a second child, and they accidentally got pregnant with me, first try. And that's why my older brother and I are only 22 months apart.
