Summer Health Class before 9th Grade

DD will be going into 9th grade this fall. I see there are two health semesters now (DS is class of 2024 and only needed one). Wondering if we can get one out of the way this summer before she starts HS. Anyone do this?

Yes you can. Technically you can get both, but priority for Health B will be given to 11/12 students who still need to take it.

Yes, my daughter took part A prior to starting 9th grade. If your child has a full schedule, it's a good idea to get at least A finished by age 13/14.

As the kids get older, they will likely be interested in jobs/internships.

And the beauty of central summer school is you can take the class at night, so no problem for most camps that are daytime.

Yes. My band kid did health A last summer before freshman year and will do health B this summer before sophomore year.

Sadly the only way to continue with instrumental music in McPS.

Yes - also good to do the tech requirement over summer school.
