Looking for ideas that aren’t Bunco, but I may just end up doing Bunco.
The women in my neighborhood get together about once a month for game night. It’s my turn to host in March. I’m not fussed about the food/drink—that’s the easy part! But I am wondering what game (or games) to host. We usually do Bunco so I’d like to do something different. Open to all ideas, for both competition games or regular games. |
Blank Slate is great for groups and one of our favorites
Code Names |
Haha I clicked on this to suggest Bunco. Are you sure they’d be open to something different? The magic of Bunco is that there’s no skill or strategy involved, and practically no rules to remember, so it’s more social than anything else.
If your crowd likes Bunco for that reason, I’d keep it simple: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/31b8ks/comment/cq04wz2/ If they like Bunco for the gambling aspect, you could do some simple gambling games with playing cards |
Celebrity. Everyone gets 10 small strips of blank paper on which they write names of famous people, or not famous people they all know. Put names in hat. Divide into two teams. First team goes. One person on the team has one minute to pick names out of the hat and describe the person to their team (other team needs to stay quiet) without using their name. They try to get through as many as possible in one minute. Then it goes to the next team the. Back to first team with someone else doing the describing, back to team two, etc. Team who has identified the most names wins. It can be very fun with the right group. |
Highly suggest - Apples to Apples
Other Ideas: Poker Bananagrams Bingo BS card game Pictionary As an alternative, could you host a mystery night? |

Cards Against Humanity if you know them well enough. Scattergories. |
Another vote for celebrity if it is a large group.
Jackbox has a lot of great games. We like quiplash, fibbage, drawful, blather round, murder mystery trivia. |
This sounds awful |
OK? Then if you get an invite, decline. |
Was also going to suggest Blank Slate |
And you sound dull. |
We mix it up between games and events. Would they be open to Favorite Things.
Each person brings 3 exact pieces of their favorite thing <$10. It could be 3 face masks, 3 nail polishes, 3 gift cards to starbucks, etc. Everyone puts their name once into hat #1, and 3 times into hat #2. Draw a name from hate #1 and that person introduces their item and says why it's their favorite. Then, they draw 3 names from hat #2 and those people "win" her 3 items. We had a great time last time we did this, and everyone went home with something they may not have ever heard of. Some people love being creative and bringing something really out there, while others were happy to give/receive gift cards. You can set the $ limit cheaper if need be. |
