I have two boys. Both enjoy rough play and find humor in bodily functions. I know that every child is different, but just for fun, are your girls like this as well?
I have never encouraged this, but if it were up to them, they’d only talk about butts and farts! |
| I have a girl and boy. Not so much rough play on my DD's end but definitely lots of jokes about pooping, farting, etc. They learn it from peers at school. |
|
My DD (middle child between two boys) loves poop jokes. She can hold her own roughhousing, but I don’t think she’d be drawn to it naturally if she didn’t have brothers.
I also thought poop and farts were funny as a kid, and I was the oldest kid with a brother and a sister. |
| The adults in my family still think fart jokes are funny.. just the little boys love to wrestle with the teens or young adults. |
|
My 13 year old daughter has always been more physical and into poopy humor than her 18 year old brother. |
| My girls will giggle about butt things and if they hear a good fart joke. |
|
Yes to both, especially the second. My DD loves talking about poop, butts, and farts.
She also likes rough play but has a VERY short fuse if it gets "too rough." So we avoid this most of the time but not because she's a girl, but because it ends in tears too frequently. DD is also into lots of classically feminine things. She chose ballet over gymnastics, loves fairies and unicorns, favorite colors are pink and purple, and she regularly rejects things for being insufficiently "cute." In fact one of her favorite fart jokes involves referring to "farting sparkle rainbows." She really unites all the highly gendered childhood cliches in one person. It's impressive! |
I have DD and DS. My DD is def much grosser than DS. Boys like to be goofy silly and more physical. Girls are much more descriptive and in depth so if you compare superficial laughs to true grossness the girls will win
That said DS is older and DD is more tomboy than most girls more athletic than DS too. But she still spends way too much time and money on skincare!!!

| Yes |
| My DD loves potty humor and roughhousing with DS and DH. She's a pretty physical child and is a more natural athlete than DS. Yet she also loves clothes, accessories, anything with sparkles, fancy shoes, unicorns, flowers, basically all the pretty things. |
| Of course. My DD is more into both than DS. |
| Maybe not the rough play for our girl, but both kids (one of each) like the Captain Underpants books |
|
God yes on the potty and fart stuff.
We have an only but she will do a lot of physical stuff mostly involving running and jumping. She’s 6 and we have been to the ER twice, once poked her eye bad and once banged her head on a table. |
| OP here. Thank you all for sharing! I’m glad to see boys and girls are equally gross 😂 |
| DS 3rd grade's BFF is a girl and they love roughhousing, having burp contests with each other and telling fart jokes. |
