What do you make on a snow day?

When you know a snow day is coming, what do you plan to have in the house for meals? For some dumb reason, I find this fun to plan, but I’m looking for more good ideas. My go-to is chili or nachos or bolognese.

Same stuff as other days, except not using the grill outside.

We like to do bigger, more involved things that take more time since we know we'll be home. Also heartier - more bolognese, less salmon type of thing

Chili, hot chocolate, grilled cheese and tomato soup. Love making soups and breads from scratch on snow days.

Minestrone soup or some other vegetable soup. But we had homemade soup twice this week already (2 different types) so tomorrow we are having ramen. I will make breakfast tomorrow too, since I’ll be home.

We don't have a ton of food right now because of the wonky week, and dh was away so it was just me and the kids. But we have the essentials - grilled cheese, chili, hot chocolate.

I've been cooking a lot lately. Veggie chili, chicken Tinga, bolognese, enchiladas, pizza, brownies and cookies and apple pie, grilled cheese and tomato soup, sweet and sour eggplant, fresh salsa, pancakes. Gosh I am tired of cooking actually.

This will sound strange, but smoothie makings. My kid doesn’t like hot chocolate but loves a smoothie, so I make sure to have those ingredients on hand as an afternoon treat after sledding or shoveling. And I will prep some sort of cookie dough in the morning and then bake a tray during my lunch break to have some warm cookies in the afternoon.

Split pea soup

Snow days usually have chocolate chip cookies at some point. I often put croissants out to proof overnight or make waffles in the morning.

Does it matter? Whatever my house keep and I have planned. She does the majority of the meal planning and shopping anyway. On inclement weather days, she can spend the night.
