MCPS Brian Hill Dissembles

I received an email from MCPS Chief Operating Officer Brian Hull where he was clearly not telling the truth. In his message, he says that the reason they are not considering calling a code purple for tomorrow, January 19, is because that code is only for large multiple-day events, which tomorrow’s storm should not be. While that was the original purpose of code purple, it is clear that the school system was actually trying to implement options for virtual learning anyway, but was unable to do so due to technical and competence limitations. Therefore, we know that Brian Hull is dissembling.

I heard several schools couldn’t get kids logged on because MCPS changed the third party app permissions on student accounts

Given that they previously said virtual was only for multi-day storms, why do you say it is so "clear" that they were trying to but were unable to shift plans after only two snow days?

Fair assessment. Many of us at MCPS were willing to try and make it work. Kids were happy after we told them no purple tomorrow though! Lol

This. They tried but couldn't pull it together in such a short timeframe. Such is life.

Their website indicates that multi-day storms are only one example of when birth learning could be used.

The impacting event is predictable
The impacting event is part of a multi-day scenario (blizzard etc.), or
Prior preparation and communication with families, students, and staff has taken place
