on beauty, cosmetic, maintenance, gym, dental, facial, surgery, memberships, salon, nails, etc to keep looking good? What did you spend it on? How old are you? HHI?
50 300K 15K - I got some dental work done, one laser treatment, the rest is Peloton membership, gym membership, monthly hair, occasional nails, botox 3-4x a year, buying stuff at Sephora - some replacement, some trying new brands. |

600k Maybe $1000? Haircuts, sunscreen, makeup, peloton sub. |
| I have no idea. I'd guess maybe $5000? Or $7000? |
| 40*12 for my peloton membership, that's it. |

I spend at least 1-3k a month. That would include gym/spa memberships, additional spa treatments and tips, hair salon trips and tips, hair care (products and blow outs) all beauty and grooming supplies, work out gear/clothing, day wear, evening wear, lounge wear, purses/small accessories, jewelry, watches, shoes, nails, spray tans (2-3x a month). It seems like a lot but it's fitting for our status and lifestyle. Some months it's less, other months more.
DH makes over 7 figures. I am a SAHW/M. I'm 45. |
Lol. Hon, you're a housewife. You have no status. Your DH does. |

More than I would expect, given that i'm pretty low key and don't spend much time on beauty on a daily basis.
But $600 on botox every 4 months = $1800 $250 on hair cut and color every 8-10 weeks = around $1300 Gym = $20/month = $240 I have been trying to find the right combo of tret and moisturizer over the last year, so probably spent $500 last year on that Other random makeup maybe $200. Maybe less? $150 on a nice shampoo/conditioner brand I spent $400 total last year on a couple treatments to get some spider veins zapped from the side of my nose. No nails, facials, dental, or other random stuff. So I guess $4000 or so? Seems like a lot, but it's not a lot of appointments (less than 10 appts a year, for hair and botox), and I spend about 3 minutes a day on actual beauty stuff - wash my face, apply tret? People on this thread are going to say that, despite my claims above, i'm not low key, but i really feel like i spend way too little time on this and look disheveled most days. DH spends way more time (and maybe more money) on beauty than I do, and I wouldn't consider him super high maintenance either! HHI around $2m, my income is around $1.2m of that. |
That’s a lot of spray tans! Does it get all over everything? I’ve considered it but I don’t want to deal with the mess. |
My husband also makes seven figures and I spent probably $250 total last year, mostly on makeup and Cerave soap. Sucks to have to keep up appearances like that. |

You sound kind of jealous, status can be either social or professional. |
OP didn't ask about clothes. They asked about beauty. |
NP what professional status does an unemployed person have? |

how much does your botox cost? That is one thing I want to add in.
For me right now: I do a massage (back treatment) once a month - appx $103.50/mo. Mani / pedi - $72/mo. Peloton membership - $44/mo. Clothes - $100/mo. Laser hair removal - $187.50/mo. I think, but I am not certain because I only paid for it once so far and I didn't keep great notes - that I pay $150 every 6 months for hair cut with new highlights for grays I have a general health / wellness / beauty category on YNAB that I contribute $145/mo. to - things like makeup and toiletries, sunscreen, etc. for the whole family goes in there though - not just for me personally (family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 kids). I don't wear a ton of make up. I am 42. HHI of appx. $350K. Essentially - I have never put any effort into my looks. Basically now that I am older I am paying more to put no effort in and still look presentable
