Is PVI ok?

Graduates of our k-8 parochial school are leaving PVI. I hear of others planning on leaving as well. Is the school having issues with adminstration? Faculty resigning? Is this true, or is it just dissatisfied parents?

Lot of resources going into becoming a full fledged sports academy.

Fascinating. What kind of resources? For full transparency my DC goes to another WCAC school. I've seen PVIs impressive basketball team. Are they investing in other sports too?

Still didn’t win the WCAC.

LOL. You’ll have to get by SJC first.

A lot of kids from our parochial school left after their first year at PVI too, but everyone is very hush hush about why. It’s concerning.

Left for another Catholic HS or back to public?

I only know two kids who go there. One left and went to public.

Most of the WCAC schools are glorified sports academy most notably SJC, DeMatha and Gonzaga.

As long as PVI's athletic director remains employed by the school, the only two sports at PVI will remain elite at are basketball and baseball.

The move did it in. LCPS has generally pretty good schools. PVI isn't worth the extra 30K.

Current PVI family, having attended a K-8 Catholic school. I haven’t heard of anyone I know leaving. We are very happy in every aspect of high school life. DC is a freshman, so we don’t have experience with the previous administration. I have not yet met any dissatisfied parents. Not sure on faculty resignations, although it is rumored that the previous Head of School made an unofficial deal/plea with faculty to stay on for two years after the move to the new campus. I have no idea of that is true, but might explain any perceived exodus when HOS retired. No school is perfect, but my child is thriving and happy.

I think there are families coming into PVI that have very different expectations. It can’t be all things to all people. We know a few families there, and they are doing just fine. Two come from a K8 Catholic school and that may be a defining difference. The other three families, we know are all part of the basketball program. They are happy

The rumor (total hearsay at our Loudoun County Catholic church) is that the influx of non-Catholic students from public school after COVID has changed the culture and PVI is "not Catholic enough." The rigor also apparently has declined. Again, total hearsay.

We know families at John Paul the Great in Dumfries who love it. But that is really far...
