Please shovel before it becomes packed down, and lay down ice melt if you have it. I've already taken a hard fall on my butt. Walk slow, take baby steps, and be very careful as freezing rain is covering things now.

You sound like my neighbor. Sorry I have to work and I have 24 hours after the snow stops to shovel. I will get to it at lunch, or more likely, after work. Especially when businesses seem to be the last to shovel.
I don’t need to get up at 6 AM to shovel so you can go on a morning walk with your dog. |
| OP, you need a set of Yak Trax |
| I agree with OP. Shovel your darn walks. |
| The shoveled sidewalks are icier because there is always a little moisture that freezes up and it can be hard to see. |
That's why you lay down ice melt after shoveling. But still... please shovel. Compacted snow/ice after walking is the worst. |
We work boo boo |
| lol newsflash: it’s icy out here! |

Don't lay down ice melt. It's bad for waterways and for plants.

I'm not thrilled on ice melt either. It's bad for the environment.
Just be sensible and walk carefully with appropriate shoes. Walking on the snow itself is safer than a shoveled sidewalk. |
| I’m still half your age |
| We shovel but ice melt is gross, it’s terrible for animals to walk on (and then they clean themselves) and it destroys concrete. Hard pass. |
So do I, boo boo. I got my a$$ out of bed early and shoveled. |
What? No it isn't. --someone who walked to the metro this morning. |
