Is this still an option in APS? I seem to remember that they ended this but I’m not sure |
It was an option as recently as last year. I think it's still an option. I think you'll get the best current info by talking to your counselor at your specific school. |
Our counselor told us we won't know if its an option until March-ish. Its not guaranteed each year. If your child is a rising sophomore you'll need to arrange your own drivers ed classes privately if they do not take PE at school. |
What reason could APS possibly have for not allowing this? |
APS gonna APS |
Equity. Not kidding either. |
Its my understanding that it has nothing to do with "allowing"... but availability. |
The APS option for PE 1 over the summer is in person at Yorktown. I thought there would be a fully virtual option. |
Virtual Virginia offers a fully virtual option. |
Bumping this because our middle school counselor sent us a notification that Virtual Virginia will NOT be accepted by APS for PE this year |
This is not true. I talked to my counselor on the phone last week. Go to this link and click on Middle School under the Approved Courses section of the page. PE 9 is in the list of choices once you start filling out the form. You can't take PE through the vendor Edgenuity but can through Virtual Virginia. https://www.apsva.us/curriculum/virtual-instruction/summer-new-work-for-credit-courses/ |
Right on the page linked above it says: Rising 9th grade students may take a World Language course, Health and PE I, or an approved Math course through one of the approved virtual course providers. |
The HB principal said at back-to-school night that VV will be an option this summer, but this will be the last year. After that, it has to be the APS course. |
^I am the PP. Sorry, I meant to say, rising 9th-graders night. |
Sorry but APS is so all over the place on this issue, I'll believe it when and if it's on their website. Why would they give a crap if kids use Virtual Virginia. People will flip their shit about that because APS summer school is a lot less flexible and why would APS care to bother to piss all those people off. |
