| My 13 year old loves to write so we looked into Writopia. It is 645.00 for a half day camp and 895.00 for a full day camp. If you have done the camps before, is it worth it? Most of her other camps are $500-$695 for full day camps, so $895 was a bit of a sticker shock! |

| We have done it for half days in previous summers and it was good...but the $895 for full day this year was too rich for our blood. It was a good camp and our kid enjoyed it, but there was nothing so special about it that would merit that kind of price tag. I do really appreciate that they subsidize the cost for kids who otherwise couldn't participate, but by raising prices so high they've effectively priced us -- a family making good money -- out of their market. |
NP are there any other similar camps that are just as good but cheaper? |
| My kid did a week of the half-day Dungeons & Dragons camp last summer. They loved it - but also said they didn't really do any writing. I wouldn't do it again, too pricey for no real writing instruction. Maybe the essay-themed camps are different though. |
Georgetown Day had a fiction writing camp this summer that was more like $500ish. My kid hasn't actually done it though so I can't comment on quality... |
| Writopia is nothing to write home about. DC kids deserve better. For the sky high prices, you get poorly paid instructors supervising hangout time + dirty closets for classrooms. Where does the money go? |
| Are there other writing camps that people recommend? |

My kids have done Writers on the Go. Run by a Latin charter English teacher. Highly recommend.

They’re not “dirty closets”, they are full of magic. My kid LOVES Writopia. |
| This place has been magical for our kid too. Also thought price was high but completely worth it! |
Very much worth it. |
