Hair treatments for damaged hair

What treatments (at home or professional) have you done to help with damaged hair. I used to have long thick hair but after years of over processing my hair and probably from aging it’s become thinner with lots of breakage. I just can’t get it to grow must past my shoulders anymore. I did try nutrafol but found it did help with growth uonly on top of my head, so I’d have full hair on top but still brittle and breakage on bottom.

Trim to your shoulders. Hair is already dead. Nothing bring that back

Not olaplex! So many people have ruined their hair with those products even though they’re advertised as fixing damaged hair.

Op, I’ve used their products and liked. Hadn’t heard that. Good to know.

I do trim my hair every 6-8 weeks. Looking for treatment options.. reading about hair botox (not injections) and heard it can really improve the health of your hair

Have you had your thyroid checked?

I’ve used Olaplex 3 two times now - a week apart and am honestly shocked by how well it works. I’m so used to spending $$$ on stuff that doesn’t live up to its hype.

You need to eat a lot of protein. It helps with hair growth and strength. Anecdotally the best my hair ever looked was the year I was eating a ton of spinach. Sadly, laying off the heat is the only thing that ever truly gets my hair to its best state.

Get thyroid elevens checked
Eat lots of dark, leafy greens

Sleeping with jojoba oil in my hair occasionally has helped mine.

How long did you take Nutrafol? I first noticed less shedding, then more growth, and months down the road I really saw thicker strands and improved overall hair health. I no longer use it, and miss it!

Have you tried any of the K18 hair products? In particular, their original leave-in hair masque is excellent.

A leave-in conditioner used daily. Good quality shampoo and conditioner. I also like this for weekly use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07D92LYYM?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Most important: regular haircuts. At least every 8 weeks.

I use Olaplex #3 (hair protector) once a week, #7 bonding hair oil after I blow dry and #9 hair serum almost every time I wash my hair. It’s great as a detangler as well as a heat protector. I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. I’ve had that happen with other products that folks swear by.

I don’t eat a lot of dark leafy greens because I don’t like them. Would probably help but I notice eating cereal helps. It’s loaded with b vitamins even if milk bothers you snack on some Cheerios dry. Good luck.

What probably happened to PP is her hair experienced protein overload which is temporary and fixable by adding back in moisture. She didn’t realize this and assumed the products “ruined” her hair. It’s a balance between giving your hair protein and moisture.

Wow seriously? You won't eat greens but swear by cereal and cheetos? Disgusting.
